The Complete Beethoven Music for Piano and Cello with Robert DeMaine
I met Robert DeMaine, now principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, at the Charleston Chamber Music Festival in the spring of 2012, and there was an instant musical rapport which led to an agreement to perform and eventually record the Beethoven works for piano and cello—five sonatas and three sets of variations. These works span Beethoven’s entire compositional range, from the early sonatas Op. 5, through the magnificent sonata in A major, Op. 69, and ending with two late, and somewhat experimental works, Op. 102. After a number of public performances of the cycle, and given busy schedules, we finally met in Oberlin in June 2017 and recorded these signature works in record time. They were released, again to critical acclaim, by the Canadian label Leaf Music in 2022.
The two-disc CD Set is available for $25 (US).
